Florence "Flo" Filomena Bubash

August 4, 1940 — July 14, 2019

Florence (Flo) Filomena Bubash, age 78, of Anaconda Montana, lived life fully until July 14, 2019. Flo was born in Missoula Montana, August 4, 1940, to Domenick (Domenico) Monaco and Carmela (Gaglia) Monaco. Her father migrated from Cantalupo nel Sannio, Italy through Toronto, Canada in 1909 with his father. Domenick returned to Italy to marry Carmela in 1920 and returned to the U.S. He became a U.S. citizen and eventually Carmela and their daughter Irma immigrated over and joined him in Montana in 1936. The family made their home in the railroad community of Blossburg, Montana. The family grew in 1937 with Flo's sister, Elsie, and then in 1940 Flo completed their family as the youngest of the 3 girls. It wasn't until Flo reached second grade that she learned to speak English. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Blossburg until the 8th grade when she and her sister Elsie moved to Anaconda, Montana to live with their sister Irma and her husband, Mike Martello. The sisters shared one bedroom and bed with their nieces, Marlene, Mary Ann, and Sandy. Flo graduated high school with honors receiving the Anaconda Business and Professional Women's Club Award for the outstanding senior commercial student in 1958. After graduation she worked as a secretary in a law firm, until she married George Lee Howe in 1960 and moved to Libby Montana. Together they had 3 children Lee, Mark and Lisa. After her divorce, in 1966, from George, Flo moved to Spokane, Washington with her children, and met and joined families with Merle Everett and his children Kerri, Kevin, Kenny, Kathy Keith and then on to Vernonia, Oregon. Though the marriage didn't last long Flo still maintained love for the Everett children. She then moved her three children to Anaconda to be close to her family in 1971. She met and married James J. Bubash Sr. on February 11, 1974, which added Jim's children, Jim and Gayle Bubash to the family. Together they had Kimberly in 1975. Their son Mike Pickett began spending extended time with Flo and kids in 1971, and legally joined the family in 1977. Flo held multiple jobs in Anaconda and eventually retired as an office manager in a local accounting firm. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking (everyone knows of her famous spaghetti), baking, gardening, and family socials, and Saint Anne's Society gatherings. Flo's house was a gathering for all of her kids and their friends. Christmas Eve at Jim and Flo's house was always the place to be. She loved to watch her grandkids at their school and sporting activities. Flo's is survived by her husband, James Bubash Sr. Children, Mike (Polly) Pickett, Lee (Patty) Howe, Mark (Karen) Howe, Lisa Howe Huber, Jim Bubash Jr, Gayle (Mike) Stanley, Kim (Mike) LeFever.
