Ervin "Sam" Rustad

Ervin "Sam" Rustad was born on August 22, 1922, to Henry and Inger (Mahle) Rustad at Sanish, North Dakota. He moved to Anaconda at the age of 5 with his parents when his father went to work for the Anaconda Company. He attended school in Anaconda. Ervin went to work in the shipyards in Seattle from 1943 to 1945. He returned to Anaconda and he married Margaret "Maggie" Rose Radonich on July 16, 1950. They made their home in Anaconda where he was employed as a Smelterman for 35 years for the Anaconda Company in the tank house and convertor. Margaret died on April 19, 2010 and he continued to make Anaconda his home. Maggie and Ervin loved to take car rides to visit relatives or shop, often taking a niece or nephew or grandchild along for the ride. Ervin also loved to tinker with TV's, VCR's or calculators. Ervin was a member of the Smelterman's Union, Hope Lutheran Church and the Eagles. Ervin died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step-son Bill Jette, sisters and brothers and spouses; Amy Rustad, Hazel (Arne) Motland, Ella (Theodore) Gjerde, Gladys (Bjarne) Bergesen, Cora (Ole) Aniksdal, Carney (Frances) Rustad, and in-laws, Tony Radonich, Tom Radonich, Kate (Jim) Davison and Clyde McDonald. Ervin is survived by step-son; John Jette, Spring Creek, NV; step-daughter -in law; Ann Marie Jette, Anaconda; 3 grandchildren and their children, Amy (Nate) Herrboldt, Jacob and Nickolaus, Arthur (Jessie) Jette, Jaycee, Justin, Tucker and Jerzey, and Debbie Jette; sisters and brother-in-laws, Ruth Radonich, Pete (Helen) Radonich, Matt (Florence) Radonich, Sandra Radonich, John (Carolyn) Radonich and Stella McDonald and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda, 401 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711, the Hope Lutheran Church, 1506 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711 or to the donor's choice. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home Chapel, Anaconda. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services. Interment will be held at Lower Hill Cemetery, Anaconda.
