Elmer "Elmo" H. Coblentz

Elmer, age 76 of Maxwell, MT passed away on April 10, 2021 surrounded by family at home. Elmer was born on March 21, 1945 in Akron, Ohio. Elmer lived in Montana for 39 years, working at the Mill, building and remodeling houses and doing various other forms of construction. He was a talented carpenter with examples of his artwork displayed in several states.

He loved his mountain living, enjoying hunting, four wheeling and snow mobiling, exploring new places and destinations. Elmo and Rose enjoyed staying at several friends' cabins in the winter for fun filled weekends. He had a fun loving, free spirited personality that attracted many friends, not meeting many strangers. Some of his favorite sayings were "Life is Good!" and "The fact of the matter is..."

Growing up Amish, he held a lifelong belief in Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Barbara Coblentz, two sisters; Edna Hershberger and Sarah Coblentz, and two brothers; Albert Coblentz and Henry (Sonny) Coblentz, father-in-law Raymond Keeler, brother-in-law Charles Keeler, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Coblentz, his son, James LaRue (Angela) children, Alex and Trent. Daughters, Desiree Thompson (Randy Schwan) children; Dakota, Aaliyah, Jasmine and Ashley Bontrager, son Cyrus. Mother-in-Law Bessie Keeler and sister-in-law Adair Rademacher. Stepchildren:  Jeannie and Ben Hager, children; Danica and Nathan. Raymond and Liberty Barrows, children; Lily and Daniel. He is also survived by a brother, Leroy H. Coblentz, and three sisters: Barbara Lumley, Emma Yoder and Ada Coblentz, and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer (Elmo) was greatly loved by many and will be missed by all.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Granite County Museum in Philipsburg. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
