Doris Marie Blank

Doris M. Blank passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at the family home in Opportunity.

Doris was born to John Aho and Frances (Juntunen) on September 2, 1939 in Iron Wood, Michigan.

Doris met the love of her life Jerry Blank, and they married in Bozeman on April 6, 1960. Their marriage was blessed with five children.

Doris worked as a waitress and had a band of her own and would play and sing on the radio. She met several famous musicians while singing on the radio.  Doris also worked in the clothing department at Walmart for several years and at the Anaconda Leader as a reporter and photographer.

Doris loved painting, using watercolor, writing poetry, and knitting and crocheting.

Her great grandsons – Mavrik and Nathan – were the light of her life.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Blank, son Tom Alan Blank, sisters Darlene Baker and Kathy Griffin, and brother Sheldon Aho.

Doris is survived by her children Daniel (Helen), Kenneth, Rob (Starla), and Susan (Wess) Maerz; sister Sharon Cowell; grandchildren Keith (Lindsey) and Matt (Meghan); great grandchildren Mavrik and Ethan, Nathan, and CoraLynn Maerz.

A graveside service for Doris will held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Veterans Section of New Hill Cemetery, Stumptown Rd., Anaconda, MT, where she was laid to rest with her son Tom Blank.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doris’ name are suggested to Pintler Pets, 80 Silver St., Anaconda, MT, 59711.
