Diana Gail West

August 5, 2025 — November 25, 2025

Butte

In the late afternoon of November 25, 2025 Diana passed away in the quiet of her room at the Community Hospital of Anaconda, Montana. She had been fighting a battle with cancer for nearly 2 years. Diana was born in Livingston, Park County, Montana on August 5, 1951 to the proud parents Donivan Ray and Dixie Elizabeth Keto.

Diana spent her childhood among animals and nature. She grew up watching and then assisting her dad in breaking horses. She worked alongside her dad doing round-ups of cattle. She had 2 favorite horses that she often talked about, ‘Nutmeg’ and ‘Ginger’. Her mother taught her sewing and cooking and how to crochet. She learned to play piano and enjoyed playing the flute with high school marching band.

After graduating from Anaconda High school, Diana attended college At Rick’s College (now BYU Idaho) in Rexburg, Idaho before leaving to serve a religious mission. Diana was asked to serve in Pennsylvania, and she was the very first sister missionary from the Anaconda, Montana ward to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

After returning home, she attended a church function in Butte, MT where she first met Howard George West; they were sealed/married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple January 9, 1976. Howard and Diana moved to Provo, Utah to finish his degree at BYU and they started their family. Diana loved being a mom, she had the privilege of staying home as a fulltime house-wife and mother until she tragically lost her husband in 1993. He was buried in Price, Carbon County, Utah. Through her life, Diana developed a lot of talents in art with coloring, drawing, painting, crochet, quilting, floral design, and research with family history. Diana’s children remember her playing the piano for them when they were young.

She went to work in reception and hospitality first for Utah State University extension office in Price, Utah, and later for Yellowstone Park Services at the Yellowstone Lake Hotel. She retired to Anaconda, to live with and care for her parents. After her father passed in 2012, she and her mother spent the next 13 years living in the community of Opportunity. Diana continued to serve in church and community, enjoying her family.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband Howard George West, her father Donivan Ray Keto and sister Darlene Sue Keto.
