In his younger years he enjoyed fishing at Georgetown Lake and fly fishing at Big Hole. He graduated from Anaconda High School in 1957. He worked at the smelter for 6 months, then joined the Navy for 4 years. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he married Karen Colwell. They had 6 children together. They later divorced but remained friends. His second wife was Linda Applegate. They were married 37 years. She preceded him in death. Their son is Jeff (Robin) Snow of Anaconda.
Dave worked for Pacific Railway when he returned home as well as other jobs. He became a fireman with the Anaconda Fire Department from 1967-1982. As a firefighter, Dave was on duty to save lives and to protect citizen's property. He earned the rank of Captain before retiring due to an accident on the job in 1982.
He fondly reminisced about the days of being a fireman. Members of the fire department would stop by the nursing home to wish him a Happy Birthday every year - "Once a fireman, always a fireman." He was a very active member in the community. He had a servant's heart and helping others brought him joy. He was often involved in community service projects, shoveled sidewalks, delivered papers, and drove the Anaconda Tour Bus. He was a member & served as an officer in the VFW and Eagles organizations for many years.
There is a graveside service and celebration of life planned for family and friends scheduled for May 26, 2022.
