Anaconda

David G. (Boogie) Reiss 69, passed away at the Community Hospital of Anaconda on December 23, 2022, with his loving family and friends at his side.

Dave was the sixth of 6 children born to Frank and Emma Reiss on August 23, 1953. He attended Saint Joseph Grade School, Junior High and graduated from Anaconda Senior High in 1972. Dave acquired the nickname “Boogie” at a very young age and was often called “The Fonz’ in the 70’s and 80’s.

After graduation he worked at the Anaconda Copper Company as a Stationary Engineer from 1973 until the shutdown in 1981. He then went to work for miscellaneous General Contractors, Bud Jacobsen and Sons, and ACME Concrete Company. Dave worked in Alaska for a short time on construction and later went to work for the Montana State Prison. He was owner/operator of Boogie’s Crane Service using his crane on the construction of the new Anaconda Federal Credit Union. After selling his crane business he then went to work at the MT State Hospital as a Teamster Truck Driver retiring in October of 2020.

Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He lived for hunting, and he looked forward to setting up the hunting camp every year with his hunting buddies: Jerry Clark, Billy Clark, Bobby Monahan, Mike Finnegan, and Terry Miller. He enjoyed his “Harley Davidson” and had high hopes of traveling many highways. Boggie was an outdoor kind of guy; he loved the wide-open spaces.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, mother-in-law, Dorothy Seward, brother Ken, brothers-in-law Bill Thomas and Bob Roberts, and sister-in-law Charlotte Burgman.

Dave is survived by sisters, Elaine Thomas, Darlene Roberts, Peggy (Gary) Pearson, brother Lester (LaGay), sister-in-law Nancy Reiss, Anna Burgman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave’s family would like to thank everyone at the Communinty Hospital of Anaconda for their loving care in Dave’s final hours and a special thank you to Father McCullum for coming to the hospital on short notice to administer his last rites.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.

Dave, we love you, we miss you and we will forever hold you in our hearts. Boogie will be missed by many. You are now free of all pain and worry, fly like an Eagle. Rest in Peace.
