Darlene A. (Davis) Johns

February 8, 1938 — October 13, 2021

Anaconda

On October 13, 2021, Darlene A. Johns left this world surrounded by her loving family to join her sons in Heaven.  She passed just as she wanted to in her daughter’s caring home.  Darlene was born February 8, 1938, to Cliff and Angela (Gillie) Davis.  Her childhood was spent in many different locations. She always reminisced the most about her time on the Oregon Coast, but her home was forever in Anaconda.  She graduated High School, from Anaconda Central in 1956.

Darlene married Ed Sedminik, of Anaconda, and the two raised 4 children together, Diane, Joe, Jim, and Deb.  The two later divorced and Darlene then remarried William Johns in 1982, and they spent several years together until they too divorced.  Darlene worked as an Operator for the phone company until the birth of her first child, then spent many years at home raising her children.  She returned to the work force as a cook at the Embassy Super Club, and later bartended at her son Jim’s establishment the Mill Bar.  At the Mill she was known by her patrons as a feisty, pint-sized bartender, with a quick wit, colorful language and a no-nonsense attitude.

She spent many days traveling the open roads of Montana with her special friend Joe Mihelic, always keeping both feet on the ground.  She enjoyed hours with her best friend Marilyn McCarthy, drinking coffee, smoking, and chit-chatting the mornings away, while their children played in the background.  In her later years, she was a devoted friend to Bud, Rose, Carol, and many other classmates.

Darlene had many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that brought countless hours of joy to her life.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember her doing puzzles, knitting afghans, and talking about how life REALLY is.  Many happy memories were made watching football cheering on the Griz, Saints, and Packers.

Darlene’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Debra Miller, Jessie Askins, Stefanne Crow, Michal Doyle, Marcy Day, Debra Robinson, Senior Solutions and the countless other medical staff for the wonderful care they provided during these past few years.

Darlene is survived by her sister, Betts McDougall; daughters, Diane (Jerry) McWithey and Deb Colbert; nephew Rusty McDougall; grandchildren; Brandi (Tim) Krum, Ashley (Ted) Phillips, Jacob Christie, Jeurgen Colbert, Nicole (Dustin) Hanna; great grandchildren, Brennan, Owen, Paitlyn, Cooper, & Charli. And many other loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Angela Davis; her brother-in-law, Ken McDougall, her sons Joe and Jim Sedminik.
