Colleen Olson (McNally), 80, loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Carson City, NV, on February 15, 2023. She was surrounded by her children, sister, friends, and loving husband of 60 years.
Colleen was born on April 5, 1942, in Anaconda, MT. She was the third of five children of Owen and Vivian (Hatfield) McNally. She proudly grew up in Goosetown surrounded by great friends and graduated from Anaconda Central School in 1960.
Colleen married her grade school sweetheart James ‘Jimmy’ ‘Oly’ Olson on October 12, 1962. Colleen and Jim had 5 children. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.
Colleen spent most of her career educating the youth as a Head Start Teacher in Anaconda, MT, and Instructional Assistant in Carson City, NV. She started her working career at Ossello’s Furniture Store, First Security Bank, and Anaconda School District.
Colleen loved and adored all her family. She was happiest when her large family surrounded her at the cabin at Georgetown Lake. She was especially proud of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and boasted their achievements to anyone who would listen. She loved supporting them at their sporting events and dance performances. Colleen and Jimmy traveled most weekends to watch as many of the events as they could.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Jim Olson, son Greg (Denise) Olson, daughter Karey (Gordon) Conn, daughter Jamie Olson, daughter Molly (Kyle) Walt, daughter Jennifer Brien (Tyler) Hangas, granddaughters Sarah (Jake) Sandau, McCall Olson, Shayla (Jayden) Wilson, Chloe Walt, and Gracie Walt, grandsons Aaron Conn, Grady Olson, Nathan Hangas, Kaden Walt, Zachary Hangas, Conner Hangas, and Kael Walt, great-grandchildren James and Luke Conn, Aiden and Rhett Wilson, sister Pat (Dan) Laughlin, sister-in-law Donna McNally, sister-in-law Natty Mendoza (McNally), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents Owen and Vivian McNally, brothers James and Eugene McNally, and sister Cathy Shagina.
Colleen was an incredible person who worked hard to educate the youth and spread love and kindness in others.
Colleen requested for no services to be held. The family wishes to thank all of those who called and visited Colleen during her last days.
