Christina M. Hughes

December 23, 1919 — April 5, 2019

Christina Hughes, age 99, of Sheridan, Montana, was received into the waiting arms of her Savior on Friday, April 5, 2019. She was born Christina Mercena Spykerman on December 23, 1919, in New Holstein, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William and Margaret Spykerman of New Holstein, Wisconsin. She attended schools in Chilton, Wisconsin. On November 9, 1946, she married John Carhart Hughes at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton. Her husband John then preceded her in death on May 21, 1991. Christina enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed making beautifully detailed quilts for family and friends. Sitting around a campfire and roasting marshmallows brought her so much joy, sharing so many fond memories of growing up on a Wisconsin farm. Christina is survived by her sons: John of Sheridan, Don of Alberton, Dennis of Sheridan; grandchildren: Justin, Shawn, Cheri, Dion, Donald and Brian; great-grandchildren: Harley, Benton, Jacob, Samuel, Darren, Bradley, Devon, Rachel, Alex, Chloe, Tyler and Leya. She is further survived by numerous relatives in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband: John; her parents, sister Rene Mack; brother, Kelley; son Ron; daughter, Diann Wargo and grandchild Ronald. We are so grateful for the loving care provided by the Compassus team; Dorothy, Luray, Joann, and Karen. We hugged and kissed Christina so much, she said "Enough Already". Private burial will be in the New Hill Cemetery in Anaconda. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2:10
