Carole A. Standa

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Carole Ann Janidlo Standa, beautiful and loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 80.  Carole was born to Frank and Ann (Tomkosky) Janidlo on March 23, 1941, in Johnstown, PA.  She attended St. Patrick Grade School and Johnstown Catholic High School, graduating in 1958.  She attended Cambria Rowe Business School.

In 1958, she met a dashing young man on a blind date to Moonlight Park.  She married that man on September 23, 1961.  Vic and Carole’s adventurous life led them to homes in West Virginia, Montana, Idaho and back to Montana, raising their four children to love the outdoors and to embrace new experiences.  Carole cherished the many friends they made in the nine communities that they called home.

Carole spent her life serving others, volunteering for her children’s activities.  She was an organist at every church where they lived, in addition to serving on numerous committees and in lay ministry positions.  Carole nourished the bellies and hearts of many through her famous “Betty Bread”.  Her infectious smile touched everyone who met her.

Carole is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Vic, her brother Thom (Linda) Janidlo, her children Frank (Rebecca), Sue (Mark) Sweeney, Jack (Nia) and Leigh (Scott) McOmber.  She will be dearly missed by her 9 grandchildren:  Brandi Galiher, Carly Johnson, Sydney (Connor) Fitzgerald, Ben McOmber, Quincy Standa, Jacob Standa, Juniper McOmber, Tegan Standa and Clara McOmber and two step-grandchildren Shannon and Jordan Sweeney.  Her three great-grandchildren Weston and Brooks Galiher and Lyanna Fitzgerald adored their “Moka”.

Carole’s extraordinary faith carried her through life’s ups and downs and inspired all.  Her legacy lives on in her family and all those who loved her.

A Vigil was held at St. Philips Church on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday (today), July 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philips Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services on Saturday.
