Arthur D. Miller, age 71, of Deer Lodge, passed away the afternoon of June 6, 2024, at the Anaconda Community Hospital Nursing Home under the care of the excellent and caring staff. Art was born in Anaconda on October 4, 1952, the fourth child of Robert and Lois (Arvish) Miller.
Art was the postmaster at Galen State Hospital for several years, a job he truly enjoyed as he was able to socialize with both the patients and hospital staff. Prior to being postmaster, he worked in the Surface Department at the Anaconda Company Smelter.
Art had many interests including metal detecting, collecting baseball cards, mineral specimen collecting, looking for old bottles/relics, and photography. His most enjoyable time was the annual family vacation at Lake Mary Ronan, staying in a rustic cabin and fishing for largemouth bass, salmon and bluegills. He would often hike around the lake and participate in other water activities.
As a member of the local Elks club, he served as Chaplin for serval years. He also belonged to the Butte Camera Club and the Anaconda Chorale Society. Art bowled with many different teams over the years.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois, a brothers Robert and Gregory.
He is survived by brothers Richard and Harold Miller, sisters-in-laws Rosemary and Mary Miller, a niece Molly Snustad and nephew Ross Miller, great nephews Grayson and Kobe Snustad, along with several cousins.
In memory of Art please consider sending donations to Anaconda Catholic Community Church. Art will be missed by anyone who knew him, he had a gentle nature that was quiet and very unassuming. He enjoyed socializing and developed many friends through the years.
A Funeral Liturgy will be at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home, 107 Oak Street, Anaconda, MT 59711 on Friday, June 15th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following the liturgy there will be a graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Longfellow Funeral home following the graveside service
