Butte

Arthur Warren Kehler, born January 25, 1947, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 9 in Butte, Montana.

Art was the son of William James Kehler Sr. and Virginia Helena (Koch) Kehler, and the brother of William James Kehler, all of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter Zandra Anderson and her family, as well as his niece Tanya Arrington and her family, all of whom held a special place in his life.

Art served in the United States Army, where he was deployed to Vietnam as part of the 125th Air Traffic Control Company.

Art felt most at home in the outdoors, he loved the wilderness and was an avid fisherman who found peace in Montana’s mountains and waters. Later in life, he became an author and published his book, Hollowtop Smoke Signals, a project that reflected both his creativity and his connection to the landscapes he loved. His stories carried the same spirit he brought to everyday life. Art could bring laughter to any conversation with his quick wit and unmistakable sense of humor.

Services for Art will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harrison Community Church. A military graveside service will follow, with a gathering back at the church afterward.

Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home have been privileged to care for Arthur and his family.
