Our "Mom", Anna Margaretta Broman Harding, began her journey on this earth August 15, 1935. She was the third of five children, Violet Olsen, David Broman, Lindy Broman Faber and
Patricia Broman Kane, born to Swedish immigrants, Nels Gustuf and Ruth Margareta Krantz "Greta" Broman in Philipsburg, MT. She spent many Saturday's of her youth on the Intermountain Bus Lines traveling to and from Butte, MT, for singing lessons. She excelled in school and graduated from Granite County High School, second in her class in 1953. From there, she went on to Nurses training at St. Patrick's School of Nursing, in Missoula, MT. Mom graduate as a Registered Nurse in 1956.
In 1957, she married her long-time beau, Lynn Earl Harding, from Anaconda, MT. Together Mom and Dad had seven children, Donald Harding (Barbara), David Harding (Vicki), Dale Harding (Tammy) and Dean Harding (Jean) all of Philipsburg, MT, Roxanna Harding Stroh (Hal) of Great Falls, MT, Rita Harding of Wasilla, AK and Ruth Harding Mahoney (Mark) of Lolo, MT, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Mom always said she loved her children equally, but she made us all feel like we were her favorite. What was probably closer to the truth is, she tolerated us, and allowed us to survive our teen years, knowing her true reward would be grandchildren. Mom was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 31great grandchildren.
The truth of the matter is, mom felt as though every kid in the town of Philipsburg was just as special as the next, and loved her job as the School Nurse for several years. She also worked as a Hospital Nurse, Dr.'s Office Nurse, Head Start Nurse, Job Corps Nurse and sometimes a Private Nurse. She was always on call and would jump to help anyone in need. She was extremely proud to be named in the Who's Who in American Nursing. Her life was not busy enough as a full-time mother, home maker, and nurse; she would take on regular singing gigs as well. She absolutely loved pinochle club, Jr. Women's Club, Christian Women's Club and the PTA. She stayed active in her church and took on many callings. She was also a leader/organizer of several Cub Scout, Blue Bird, 4-H and church groups just to fill her spare time. Mom also took a cake decorating class and became the town bakery for made to order celebration cakes. She loved this job, as did we; we were her taste testers and mistake eaters. Mom did not know the meaning of the word "NO", she was a people pleaser and loved every minute she spent socializing. She was a member of Rainbow Girls, and later held many offices in The Order of Eastern Star.
She met new friends everywhere she would go, and everywhere she would go, there would be old friends calling out her name. A stranger to her was just a friend she had not met yet. She loved to travel and after the love of her life, Lynn, passed away in 1995, she joined the Good Sam Group, bought herself a motor home and set out on new adventures with wonderful friends. She loved taking cruises and especially loved traveling to Europe.
Mom lived most of her life in her home town of Philipsburg, MT, except for a few years in Missoula. Although she was fond of Missoula, she missed her home town and came back, as a resident of the Granite County Nursing Home. This is where she was residing at the time of her death. Mom had come full circle. The place she loved, and the place she spent most of her life would be the last place she called home. Her Earthly journey was complete on June 10, 2017. She had been a "good and faithful servant!" (Matt 25:23) and the Lord wanted her home, for her reward. Hopefully there is an opening with the Heavenly Angels Choir Group. She will fit right in.
Mom is preceded in death by her husband Lynn Harding, parents, Nels and Greta Broman, sister Violet Olson, daughter in-law Barbara Harding, grandchildren Ezra Harding and Samantha Harding and great grandchild Noble Bosdell.
