Allen J. (Babe) Green Husband, Father, Grandpa, Friend The world lost a truly great guy when Allen "Babe" Green passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Allen passed peacefully after taking his last breath. Allen was born October 4, 1929 to George and Mary (Sekora) Green in Butte, Montana. The youngest of four children, he attended Whittier Elementary School, and graduated from Butte High in 1947. After graduation he worked for the forest service. In his early twenties he enlisted in the Air Force, serving in the Korean War. While serving his country he spent just over two years overseas working as a communications/radio operator. He was awarded 8 medals for his honorable service and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After being discharged, Allen met his wife of 60 years Marian (Hess), and the two were happily married on June 11, 1955 in St. Peters Church in Anaconda. Allen and Marian celebrated life daily through hard work, determination and through their gift of a large family. While raising 6 children Allen worked as a brick layer at the Anaconda Smelter through the state apprenticeship program. He later worked and eventually retired in 1990 from the US Postal service as a friendly letter carrier. Allen had many pleasures in life. He and Marian never missed one of the thousands of events they attended for their kids, grandkids, and now great grandkids. Allen took great pride in their home in the West Valley which he built. He lived for big game hunting season, camping and backpacking, and he and Marian's yearly trips to Jackpot and Vegas with special friends and family. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, his sisters Margaret Bahr, and Helen Miller. His sister in law Betty Wyant, his three brothers in law George, Bobby, Ray Hess and his wife Mary Beth. Survivors include his sons Allen (Stephanie) Green, Richard (Nicole) Green, and Ken Green. Daughters Sheila (Buster) Riley, Barbara (Jerry) Mee, Ann Marie (Bob) Morani, his brother Erwin Green of Spokane, Washington, brother in law Lorin Miller of Bremerton, Washington and sister in law Mary Hess of Anaconda. Allen leaves behind a legacy of 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Melinda (Riley) Reynolds and Brian Riley, Chad, Chelsea Galle, Courtney Moodry, Teryn and Jade Green, Maggie and Matthew Green, Jim and Jackie Mee, Nicole, Ryan and Emily Morani. His 4 great grandchildren Riley and Madison Reynolds, Wes Riley, and Rylan Clark. Funeral Mass for Allen (Babe) will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Friday, October 30, 2015 at 10:30 am. Memorials in Allen's name can be made to the Marybeth Hess Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Anaconda Community Hospital, 401 W. Pennsylvania, or the Washoe Park Foundation 800 South Main.
