Thoda Moreland Obituary
Thoda C. Moreland passed away on March 14, 2019 at the age of 92. She was born in Preston, Idaho on January 18, 1927. Thoda was the oldest daughter of Howard and Edna Campbell. She was joined by two sisters, Nancy Cron and Aloma Campbell.
Thoda attended school in Trout Creek, Montana where she participated in track and excelled in running. Her family eventually settled in Anaconda where she met her husband Richard L. Moreland. They were married on September 9, 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Farragut, Idaho while Dick attended the naval technical school. They lived in Ennis, Montana, Great Falls, Montana, and finally settled in Anaconda where Thoda was happiest surrounded by her friends and family.
Thoda and Dick raised four children, Sheryl, Lonnie, Dennis, and Kurt. They were involved and supportive of all their children's activities. Thoda served several years as a cub scout leader.
She was an active member of her church and held many positions that brought her great joy. Thoda loved doing many different kinds of crafts which she shared generously with family and friends. She enjoyed doing genealogy, camping, and fishing. One of her most prideful accomplishments was hiking through the Pintler wilderness with Dick and her in-laws Bud and Lois Moreland.
Thoda was preceded in death by her husband Richard L Moreland, her parents Howard and Edna Campbell, and her sister Nancy Cron. She is survived by her sister Aloma Campbell, Thoda's children: Sheryl Messinger (Gary), Richard Lon Moreland, Dennis Moreland, Kurt Everett Moreland (Marcy), Grandchildren: Chad (Jennifer), Tammy (Mitch), Evan, Brandon F., Trace, Brandon M., Kyle, Katie and Aaron and 5 great grandchildren.
Thoda was a person of strong character and had a very kind heart. She was always there for her friends and family. She will be always be in our hearts and will be sorely missed.
We would like to thank the staff of the Community Nursing Home for their wonderful care during her years living there.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
