Official Obituary of
Shirley Mae Luthje
October 1, 1930 ~ May 7, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old
2 Flowers or Condolences have been shared with support of Shirley's family - View on Tribute Wall
Shirley was born in Austin, MN on Oct. 1, 1930 to Melvin and Ester Hanson. She grew up and attended school in Forsyth, MT.
She married Richard Weaver and had two sons; Richard (Rick) and Thomas (Tom). She later married Loren Luthje and had two children; Timothy (Tim) and Lori.
Shirley was a sweet, loving and kind lady who loved her kids dearly. She was primarily a homemaker, but did work at the Granite County Medical Center for 9 years. She considered getting her Dietary Managers Certificate from the University of North Dakota one of her greatest accomplishments.
Shirley was a wonderful cook and loved to bake, read and grow flowers. But her biggest joys in life were her Grandkids. She loved spending time with them, baking treats for them, and going to and hearing about their activities. Shirley struggled many years with health problems, but always did so with such strength and grace.
Shirley was preceded in death by two dear sons; Rick and Tom Weaver.
She is survived by son Tim Luthje, and daughter Lori Luthje Ruch (son-in-law Jim); and her very special Grandkids: Jeannie Kroenke, Michael Weaver, Sarah Hobbs, Hans Luthje, and Kaitlyn and Luke Ruch. She also had 6 precious Great Grandkids: Tristen, Makenzie, Grace, Rowan, Riley, and De'Vony.
Shirley's granddaughter, Kaitlyn, will send her Gram off with a fast, snappy tune on the piano; and as her grandson, Luke, said: "Grandma will be preparing the party for when we meet her in heaven". One of Shirley's favorite sayings was "This is a day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it"!
There will be a celebration of Shirley's life with a gathering on Saturday, May 21st at noon at the home of her daughter Lori (3929 Topaz Ct.; Helena, MT). All are welcome.
