Sally Murphy Lovell, 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family December 3, 2014 at her home in Columbia Falls, MT.
Sally was born in Anaconda, Montana, November 30, 1950 to Jim (Spud) and Mary Murphy.
Sally was raised in Anaconda and graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1969. During her senior year she met her soul mate, Bob Lovell, and the two wed on May, 6, 1972 at St. Peters Church in Anaconda. Together they raised three children and made Helena, Butte, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Columbia Falls their homes over the course of 42 years of marriage.
Sally was an avid athlete from youth to adulthood and specifically loved swimming, volleyball, and softball. She was a tough and tenacious competitor in all aspects of her life and brought that same attitude into raising her family.
Family and friends were her passion and delight. She loved to travel for visits but preferred driving, over flying in order to see all that the world has to offer. She especially cherished trips to Missoula on Saturdays in the fall to cheer on their Montana Grizzly football team!
She also had a great love of the outdoors and cherished family summers on Savage Lake in Troy, Montana, camping at Georgetown Lake and on the Big Hole River outside of Anaconda, and driving throughout the hills, mountains and back country of Western Montana, especially Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mary Murphy; father-in-law, Lewis Lovell; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Andrews; brother, Jim Murphy; brother-in-law, Tom Matosich; nephew, Mark Andrews; brother-in-law, Bill Malone; and great-nephew, Nate Logan.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 42 years, Bob Lovell; daughter, Sarah Lovell; son, Luke Lovell and fiancé Sarah Allen; son, Greg Lovell; brother, Jack Murphy; sister-in-law, Bobbie Murphy; aunt, Florence Mahoney; cousin, Dan (Toni) Mahoney; cousin, Chris Mahoney, Alison Wysong; mother-in-law, Helen Lovell; sister-in-law, Doris Malone; brother-in-law, Tom (Carol) Lovell; brother-in-law, Ben (Linda) Lovell; sister-in-law Mariann Matosich; sister-in-law Helen (Tim) McKeon; sister-in-law, Judy (Larry) Williams; sister-in-law Jean (Dan) Reardon; sister-in-law, Connie (Ken) Vieth; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life is planned for Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Anaconda, MT beginning with a visitation at 10:00am followed by services at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sally's name to Area IX Agency on Aging, 160 Kelly Road, Kalispell, MT, 59901.
