Ruth Radonich Obituary

Ruth Bonita Radonich passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 with her family at her side.

Ruth as was born to James and Loretta (Gillespie) Burgess on February 28, 1925 at St. Ann's Hospital in Anaconda.

Ruth went to St. Peter's Parochial Grade School and St. Peter's High School graduating in 1942. After High School, Ruth worked at Warm Springs for a short time, she then went to work at Intermountain Bus Depot working in the business office and she also worked at the Butte Bus Depot. She then worked at St. Ann's Hospital as payroll clerk of several years. Ruth quit working in 1965 when her daughter Mary Carol was born to be a stay at home mom.

Ruth went out on her first date with Tony Radonich to a Knights of Columbus dinner in November of 1959, it was love at first sight. Tony proposed marriage on their second date, and they were married on July 23, 1960. Tony passed away on September 12, 1986.

Ruth was very active in the church working on the funeral luncheon committee, St. Joseph's Pastoral Council 1962, head of the social committee for several years, was on the committee to make the Old and New Testament Cookbook, she was instrumental in getting the funeral luncheon started at Holy Family Catholic Church and she sang in the choir at the 10:00 O'clock Mass. Her faith was very important to her. She was also active in the Daughters of Isabella, she bowled in the Senior Bowling League for many years, the Red Hats, and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and ceramics.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony, her parents Jim and Loretta Burgess, parents-in-law Tony and Harriett Radonich, sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Bill Niland, Brother and sister-in-law Hank and Dorothy Burgess, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Maggie and Ervin Rustad, Katie and Jim Davison, Helen Radonich (infant), Tom Radonich, Clyde McDonald, Lyle Wilks, nieces and nephews, Bill Jette, Holly Laslovich, Dennis Radonich, Carolyn Niland Henderson, Mary Rita Niland, Leanne Niland and Jim Niland, Thomas Niland, great nephews and nieces, Billy Niland, Kaitryn and Jacob Heard.

Ruth is survived by her sister Rita Wilks of Lincoln, CA; daughter, Mary Carol Radonich of Anaconda, MT, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter and Helen Radonich of Butte, MT; Matt and Floss Radonich of Spokane, WA; Sandra Radonich, John and Carolyn Radonich of Anaconda, MT; Stella McDonald of Spokane, WA and several nieces and nephews.,

The family would like to Thank the Crest Nursing Home for the excellent care they have given Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Anaconda Catholic Church Luncheon Committee, Camp Make A Dream, PO Box 1450, Missoula, MT 59806-1450 and the Multiple Sclerosis Montana Chapter, 1242 North 28th St. #1003, Billings, MT 59101.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. and the Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church on the day of the service.
