Robert Glenney Obituary

Robert Charles Glenney
October 23, 1944-January 27, 2015

Robert Charles Glenney peacefully passed away January 27, 2015 at his home in Philipsburg, Montana surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Robert was born on October 23, 1944 in Bozeman, Montana to Margaret Farnham and Rex Glenney. When he was a young child his family moved to California where he remained until a teenager. Robert then returned to Montana and lived with his grandparents. In 1966, Robert married Patricia Pickett and they had three daughters, Donna, Rene and Bobbie. Robert and Patricia later divorced but always remained good friends. As a young man, Robert worked as a tube blower for the Anaconda Company. He also worked at Warm Springs for several years as a janitor.

Robert was known and appreciated most for his great sense of humor. Despite being sick for three years prior to his passing, Robert always made others laugh. On one of his nurse's daily visits he put on a wolf mask and when she walked in the house he scared the dickens out of her. Of course he got quite a laugh. Despite be a jokester, Robert had great compassion for family, friends, and animals. He loved his daughters and grandchildren with all his heart. He was always excited when they would come for a visit. Robert often thought about others before himself, frequently taking in those who needed a place to stay and a meal.

Robert's favorite time of year was camping season. He spent many days at Flint Creek camp ground where he indulged in mountain golf and visiting with family and friends around the fire. He spent all winter preparing for his summer camping adventures. He had recently started investing in equipment to do some gold prospecting. He never gave up living despite being ill.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Donna Benson, Anaconda, Rene Glenney (Patty Steinbruecker), Missoula, Bobbie Price, Anaconda and Jack Benson, Philipsburg. His grandchildren; Ted (Michel)Benson, Cascade, Derrick Benson, Sutherlin, Oregon, Austin Wyant, California, Britny and Ashley Wyant, Anaconda, great-grandchildren; Lyla, Remington and Stevi Benson, and Adrianna and Zaden Wyant. Also extended family and special friends whom he cherished dearly. A few of those friends helped with caring for him through his illness. Robert's family will be forever thankful for their friendship toward him.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Longfellow-Finnegan-Riddle Funeral Home Chapel, Anaconda.
