Raymond Gallik Obituary

Raymond "Ray" D. Gallik, aged 90, of Anaconda, Montana, passed away, going into the arms of his Lord, at the Community Hospital of Anaconda on Sunday, March 29th surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Ray, born to parents, Andrew and Anna Gallik on June 19, 1924 in Stockett, Montana where he grew up, attended school and excelled in sports, especially football for which he never lost his love. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps from November 1943 until April 1946 where he earned the rank of Sergeant as an instructor Radar mechanic, he attended and graduated from Montana State University with a teaching degree. He met and married Margaret Louise Sarzin on July 17, 1950 and to this union, a son Lyndon "Lyn" Louis was born. He was married to Margaret for 34 years before her untimely death in 1989.

Ray spent many years as a beloved teacher in Centerville and Whitehall, Montana, where he finally retired in 1989. He was extremely active in the Catholic Church and was instrumental in starting the Whitehall Knights of Columbus. Ray loved his many "collectibles" and "treasures" that to many would have been considered "junk".

Ray then spent nearly 25 years in another happy union and life partner with Lorraine C. Biggs and also inherited her four children and grand and great grandchildren. After they wed, he relocated to Anaconda and they spent many years doing "Ray and Lorraine" activities...traveling to many states. Ray was a warm and "gentle giant" of a man who loved hunting, fishing, golf and his favorite, "horseshoes". Other groups he was passionate about were the Farm Bureau, the Anaconda Garden Club, National Judges Association, the KC's, the American Legions and other Veteran's organizations. Ray felt a truly "Life Event" was being able to participate in the Big Sky Honor Flight, traveling to Washington, DC and viewing the World War II Memorial and other sights, accompanied by his friend, Charles Dowd. Another event that Ray enjoyed and was happily remembered for was his participation in the Community Concert's performances where he jovially escorted the single and senior ladies to the theatre door.

Ray is survived by his wife Lorraine; son Lyn and wife Linda; granddaughter Kimberly Gallik; grandson Mark and wife Lacey and their five children. Also important in his life were his step-children, Michael and wife Geni and children; Patti Wittkopp and husband Jere and children and grandchildren; Jerry and wife Irasema and their children and grandchildren and Mark and wife Brenda and children and grandchildren. Ray is also survived by his brother Kenneth and wife Beverly and their children and grandchildren and by three children, Diane, David, and Gayle and families of deceased brother Ed and wife Dorothy.

Also deceased are sisters Margaret, Helen and Kathryn and brother Albert.

Raymond and his family would appreciate contributing to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
