Patricia Lacey Obituary

Patricia Beth Lacey, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her children, on Sunday, February 9, at the age of 81.
Born in Chicago, IL, on May 12, 1932, Pat was the fifth child born to Wilhelmina and Dewey Kunde. She grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Port High School in 1950. Encouraged by her father, she entered Mount Sinai School of Nursing and graduated in 1953 as a registered nurse. While in training, she met a young medical student from Anaconda, John Lacey. Following John's graduation, they married at historic Gesu Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 12, 1954.
John and Pat began their life together in northern California, later moving to Texas for John's military obligation and eventually settling in Anaconda in 1961. Arriving with five children, their family soon grew to eight. Pat's life devotion was her family. She nurtured and provided a comfortable home and maintained constant concern for the wellbeing of her husband and children. Mothering came very natural to Pat. She was a teacher, role model and a good listener. Despite having eight children, she developed loving and unique relationships with each.
Pat was a very intelligent, creative, and inventive woman. She enjoyed decorating her home and the family retreat at Georgetown Lake, which provided a setting for her love of the outdoors and her appreciation of the natural beauty of the surroundings. Additional interests included painting, antiquing, cooking and photography, where she took great care to preserve the family memories. Pat's passion was quilting. It encompassed her love of sewing and her fascination with colors and patterns. Over the years, she produced numerous quilted pieces, heightened community involvement by forming a quilting guild, mentored many local women through her classes, and became an expert in applique technique. Her handmade quilts and quilted pieces adorn her children and friends homes. If you wanted to know where Pat was, you just had to check the quilting room.
Pat leaves behind daughters Maureen, Mary, and Patty (Jeff); sons Michael (Maria Teresa), John (Connie), Tom (Joan), Dan (Jennifer), and Paul (Melinda). Pat also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John, her mother Wilhelmina, father Dewey, brothers Danny and David, and sisters Marian and Audrey.
Pat was a beautiful and gifted woman who touched many. She had a calm and accepting way of approaching things and a wonderful sense of humor. The legacy Pat leaves behind is her children and their expanding families, and a lasting record of the beauty she created.
The last year of Pat's life was a very special and intimate time for her and her children. We will all treasure this time we had with her on her final journey. Her dignity and strength will endure.
The family thanks Dr. Hueftle and the staff at Saint James Cancer Center and Anaconda Pintler Hospice.
