Natalie Fitzpatrick died early Wednesday morning, January 8, 2013 at her home at the Big Sky Senior Living Center in Butte, Montana where she had lived since 2003. She was 93.

Natalie was born in Anaconda on February 14, 1920. She was the ninth of 11 children born to Steve and Smilja Trbovich. She attended local schools and graduated from Anaconda Senior High School in 1937 as Class Salutatorian. Following high school Natalie attended Montana State College in Bozeman, graduating in 1941 with a degree in Commercial Arts. In college Natalie worked part time as the secretary for MSC President Roland Renne and worked in a similar capacity at the Office of Price Administration in Helena in 1942. Natalie moved to Los Angeles in 1943 and was employed by the US Borax Company. In 1946 she returned to Anaconda to work in the family business, the Anaconda Meat Market and Grocery at the corner of East Park and Ash Street.

Natalie met Mark Fitzpatrick in 1947 and they were wed on November 1, 1947. The first of their three sons, John, was born in September 1948, followed by Tom in June 1951 and Gene in June 1957. She was a full time homemaker and mother until 1965 when she went to work for the Anaconda School District teaching Spanish and Business classes at the high school until her retirement in 1986.

In the early 1970's Natalie was a member of the Local Government Study Commission which recommended city-county consolidation, leading to the formation of Anaconda-Deer Lodge County. She was very active in civic affairs in Anaconda. She served on the Arrowhead Foundation Board of Directors which was instrumental in the development of the Old Works Golf Course. She was a member of the Hearst Free Library Board for over 20 years and served on the Montana State Library Commission. In addition she was a member and served as the President of the Anaconda Garden Club. In 2003 the Anaconda Chamber of Commerce recognized Natalie's contributions to the community with its "Sparkplug Award". She was a member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Butte.

Natalie was preceded in death by her parents, her ten siblings and their spouses and Mark, her husband of over 56 years. She is survived by her son John (Connie) Fitzpatrick of Helena, son Tom of Seattle and Gene (Judy) of Spokane. She is also survived by her grandchildren Steve (Julia) Fitzpatrick of Great Falls, Mike (Katie) Fitzpatrick of Phoenix, Katy Fitzpatrick of Pittsburgh, Simon Fitzpatrick of Aix-en-Provence, France, Erin Fitzpatrick of Baltimore and Rory Fitzpatrick of Los Angeles. Three great grandchildren, Laura, Allison and Jack Fitzpatrick along with numerous nieces and nephews survive her.

The funeral service celebrating Natalie's life will be held on January 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Anaconda.
