Margaret Lubke Obituary

Margaret E. Lubke died on December 13, 2014 at the age of 89 in Community Hospital of Anaconda after a brief illness. Margaret was born in Philipsburg, Montana on November 20, 1925, the youngest of three adorable girls to proud parents J.J. and Madilon. Margaret graduated from Granite County High School and then continued her education at St. Patrick's School of Nursing. While in school she met the love of her life, Frederick A. Lubke. They were united in marriage on September 10, 1949, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula. From this union eight children were born: Madilon (Marty) Beatty of Helena, Maggie (Jack) Jones of Anaconda, Pat Lubke of Missoula, Mary (Scott) Buswell of Helena, Kathy Lubke of Helena, Fred Lubke of Helena, Ann (Doug) Rotz of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Jim Lubke of Clyde Park.

Margaret was especially proud of her Irish heritage and being a Registered Nurse for over 65 years. During her nursing career she worked in Anaconda, Deer Lodge and retired as afternoon shift supervisor at Galen State Hospital. Margaret enjoyed playing bridge and the lifelong friendships this activity produced, traveling with family and friends, watching her grandchildren participate in their activities, crocheting, needlework and playing solitaire at the kitchen table. Margaret was a member of the Anaconda Catholic Community, the Daughters of Isabella and Anaconda Copperhead Booster Club. Margaret was also a Life Member of the Anaconda Garden Club and served as president of the club from 1997-99.

Besides her eight children, Margaret is survived by eleven grandchildren: Joe (Tasa) Beatty, Todd (Jennifer) Beatty, Tony Jones, Heather Jones, Ashley Buswell, Shannon Buswell, Eric Lubke, Sara Lubke, Kirsten Rotz, Megan Rotz and Brett Rotz. In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by four great- grandchildren: Brayden, Anna, Aubry and Andrew. Margaret is also survived by sisters-in-law Miggs Lubke and Carol Lubke and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Fred on April 26, 2003, parents J.J. and Madilon, mother and father-in-law A.J. and Sue, sisters Phyllis McDonald and Adelaide Powers, brothers-in-law Lester Powers, Bill Lubke and Robert Lubke and sister-in-law Ruth Lubke.

The Vigil service will be held on Friday, December 19th at 7:00 PM at Longfellow-Finnegan Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20th at 10:30 AM with interment of Margaret's ashes immediately following in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Anaconda Catholic Community Funeral Luncheon Committee, the Metcalf Senior Citizen's Center or the Anaconda Garden Club Scholarship Program.
Mom will be missed by her family and many friends. We all looked forward to daily phone calls with her and her consistent closing ‘directive' to "Be a good girl" or "Be a good boy." Advice taken and sure to be followed!
