Loupine Tonkovich Obituary

Loupine Booth Tonkovich passed away Sunday, November 2nd at Pondera Medical Center-ECU at the age of 95.

Loupine was born on July 26, 1919, in Malta, Montana to Samuel Marvin and Lily Emmaline Clifford Booth, the only girl in the family with five brothers. Her family lived in many western states in her childhood, eventually settling in Anaconda, Montana. Loupine graduated in 1938 from Anaconda High School and was in the graduating class of McCarroll Beauty School in 1939. On September 2nd, 1940, she married Robert Tonkovich and became a devoted homemaker and eventually mother of three children. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and was an active member of Anawes home demonstration club. While Bob worked for the Anaconda Company, Loupine cared for the family home and many family members through the years.

Throughout her adult life, encouraged by teachings of the Mormon Church, Loupine was the family historian, researching and preserving the family story and photographs. In the church ministry Loupine taught classes and served as the church librarian. She enjoyed traveling to new places, antiquing, picnics and visits with family and friends. An avid crafter, Loupine was accomplished at knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed stamping birthday cards. At restaurant dinners, her steak was always ordered well-done.

Loupine is survived by her three children Thomas (Luanne) of Gold Canyon, AZ, David (Mary) of Choteau, MT, and Susan (Larry) Bussinger of Bellingham, WA. Her grandchildren are David and Joelle Tonkovich in CA, Rena (Aubrey Nehring) Bussinger in WA, Brandon (Amy McGrath) Bussinger in CA, and Alexa Tonkovich in AK. Survivors include great-grand-daughter Lucy Bussinger, many nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Mary Tonkovich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, and five brothers, Joe, Harvey, Marvin, Gerald and Donald.

A private family service will be held in Anaconda. Loupine will be buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with her husband following the service. Longfellow-Finnegan-Riddle Funeral Home is handling arrangements and friends may visit at the funeral home in Anaconda on Friday, Nov. 7th from 5 - 7 p.m.
