Jeremy Raasakka Obituary

On March 27, 1981, Daryl and Kim Raasakka blessed this world with a strong willed, loving, stubborn and determined baby boy. From day one, Jeremy had a fire burning inside his soul to never give up. Jeremy held on tight through all of his ups and downs and never backed down. This is a quality that fueled Jeremy to love, protect and help others. Jeremy would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, even if it meant he would have to go without. Jeremy changed the lives of many people, young and old. His big heart and contagious smile would light up any room he entered. He had the knack to make anyone he came in contact with feel loved and special in their own way. He loved making others happy and it made him happy to see others smile. Although Jeremy strived to see others smile and be happy, he too often struggled to give that to himself. Behind Jeremy's beautiful smile, he struggled with his own demons of guilt, shame and depression that haunted him daily as he continued to fight his battle of alcoholism. Addiction does not discriminate as it steals the souls of the most beautiful people. Although he struggled daily with his battle, he refused to be defeated. He continued to make others smile because that gave him hope. Jeremy found a lot of happiness at the Owl Bar with all of his extended family and very close friends, especially Dave, whom he also considered brothers and sisters. Jeremy had hopes and dreams to start a roofing business with his nephew Anthony whom he considered his brother. They had a very special bond since the day Anthony was born.

Jeremy loved his immediate family very much, especially his nieces and nephews. He shared great memories and love with each of them. Makadilian (Makayla), Newt (Nathan) and Eekeroo (Keyona) as he would call them. Jeremy gave everyone special in his life a nickname of their own.

Jeremy had many people that affected his life. He was able to marry Heather (which was a very fun time) and gain another son he considered his own Cubby.

Jeremy found a love in his heart for Heidi that would never fade. Through many trials and tribulations, she held his heart to the end. With Heidi, he got to enjoy special memories with Jake, Cody, Makera and especially Zailley, who put an unconditional smile on his face every time he saw her.

We can't forget the amazing and crazy memories he made and the bonds he created with the "Oppor Boys". Especially his brothers from another mother, Bobby, George and Dustin and Derek. It took a lot for George and Gigi to keep them in line. My brother respected and loved them as they filled a great part of family to him.

Jeremy and his sister Malissa shared a bond that could never be broken. From the beginning they were a team. As they often fought like cats and dogs, they always stood up for one another. As Jeremy would say, it was his job to knock her off her high horse and her job was to keep him in line. Malissa was not only Jeremy's sister, she also got the privilege to be the mother figure in his life (hence why they would always fight). They got to grow together. Forever and always a team. He loved and respected his sister, even if she made him mad.

Jeremy's most prized possessions and his pride were his two children. Starlin (Turkey Bird) and Joseph (Jo Jo Potato Head). They shared a bond some might struggle to understand, but it doesn't matter, it was theirs. His love for Joseph and Starlin is what kept Jeremy going each day. He was so proud of them and could not wait to be a grandpa, he looked forward to that day. Star and Jeremy would joke if it was going to be a baby bean or baby bird. With this, Jeremy gained Derek, a young man he considered a son. Starlin was Jeremy's best friend and Joseph was his favorite side kick. Jeremy believed in his children and knows they are going to do great things.

On August 16, 2019 Jeremy's battle on earth ended and he was at peace. Jeremy was called home to chase the thunder and lightning storms with his parents. He is now reunited with Anthony and Makayla's father Joe, who Jeremy considered a brother. He is able to continue with the things he loved such as hunting, fishing and dancing in the rain. Jeremy will continue to love and guide all of his loved ones from above. He will always be tucked inside each and every one of your hearts. Jeremy left this world with love, hope and determination.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Kim and Daryl Raasakka, Joseph Robles Windorski, grandparents Vi and Ralph Raasakka and Rudy and Patricia Chor and his uncle Jerry.

He is survived by his children Starlin and Joseph Raasakka, his sister Malissa Raasakka, nephews Anthony (Jasmine, Nastarie, Kenyon) and Nathan, nieces Makayla (Devin, Xavian) and Keyon and numerous amazing family and friends.
