James "Fred" was born to James Swartz and Violet (Kalar) Swartz on January 20, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa.
He met and married Shirley Lovell in 1969. After their first child was born in 1971, they moved to Denver, Colorado where they lived for 28 years and two kids later.
Fred worked as a pipe layer in Denver until 1982 when he was diagnosed with MS. He worked for himself from 1977 to 2002 doing construction cleanup, office cleaning and new construction cleaning.
He enjoyed auto racing and had his own stock car which he raced for three years.
Fred moved with his wife to Anaconda in 2002 to retire. They lived in Opportunity until 2010 and then moved to Sunnyside where he lived until his death on December 11, 2014.
He enjoyed having all three kids and grandkids visit at the same time.
Fred was preceded in death by his dad James, his mother Violet and one grandson Austin.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Swartz, son Mitchell and wife Tammy Swartz, daughter Samantha Parshall and son Jason Swartz, six grandkids, Brittani Duran, Justin Swartz, Kalie Parshall, Taylor Parshall, Bailey Swartz and Harley Swartz.
A family graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
