Gerald "Mike" Lathrope, born to Patricia and Gerald Lathrope, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones after a long hard fight against cancer.
Mike was born May 1st, 1958. He was raised in Anaconda where he went to Catholic schools and graduated from Anaconda High in 1976. He worked at Montana State Hospital for many years before getting his master's degree in psychology in Minnesota. While going to school in Minnesota he enjoyed working as a sous chef at Wilmer Elk's Club #952. After getting his degree he moved to Missoula and worked for the state job service in the W.O.R.C. program as a case manager. He married Ruth Anderson and they had 2 children, Melissa and Mike.
Mike's greatest gifts in life were his family but most of all his wonderful grandchildren. He adored them and they were the center of his life. He loved exploring ghost towns, going to museums with them and loved taking them to the candy store. He loved the 4th of July and watching the fireworks with his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Jerry Lathrope, grandparents Louise and Harold Lathrope, grandmother Rose Larsen. He is survived by his mother Patsy Lathrope, sisters Theresa McCarthy and Laurie Tuss, daughter Melissa Lathrope, his son Mike Lathrope, grandchildren Michaela, Paxton, Gavin and Kitana as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Committal Services will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
