Eugene Rodowicz Obituary

Eugene A. Rodowicz, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2015 at the age of 77. He was born in Wilmington on December 9, 1937to Konstanty and Antoinette Rodowicz. He attended St. Hedwigs School for nine years and Wilmington High for one year then Brown Vocational for two years. He married his first wife after graduation and together they had two sons and one daughter. He joined the US Army, serving from 1955 to 1958 then joined the Delaware Army National Guard as part of the Counter Sniper Team, then later the 150th Helicopter Unit. He enjoyed competition shooting, attending the National Match for six years and he fired for the Delaware State team. He was a pistol and rifle team instructor for the Delaware National Guard Team. He was also a member of the Delaware Governor's 10 Rifle and Pistol Team.

Growing up he was a member of the Boy Scouts, later the Explorer Scouts, Pulaski Legion, the Boys Club of America and the Anaconda Sportsman Club. He was a member of several gun clubs including Brandywine Hundred, Butte Gun Club, Anaconda Gun Club, Benefactor member of NRA, Winchester Club of America, Winchester Arms Collector's Association, and Weapon Collectors Society of Montana. 32nd Degree Mason, Armstrong Lodge Newport, DE, American Legion Post 21, Anaconda, and the Honor Guard firing Squad.

Eugene retired after 30 years for General Motors, Wilmington, DE, and 24 years for the Delaware Army National Guard.

Gene moved to Montana in 1994 where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, gun-smithing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, cruising, and going to gun shows. He was an avid firearms collector and collector of vintage ammunition for most of his life.

Gene is survived by his wife Mary Jane Rodowicz, daughter; Joanne Fromal, step-son; Bruce Crescenzo (children; Matt, Jack and Seray). Brian (Donna) Crescenzo (children; Thomas, Michael, Benjamin,, Stephen, and Lauren). His brother-in-law Philip (Vicky) Gaffney, sister-in-laws; Kathleen Gaffney, and Annabelle Boire, and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sons; Eugene and Jesse, step-son Thomas Crescenzo, brother John (Helen) Rodowicz, and by his sister, Tessie (William) Kwiatkowski.

Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral & Cremation Service is entrusted with Eugene's local arrangements.
Services will be held in Delaware.
