Dale Strommen Obituary

On Saturday, January 19th, 2019, Dale Arthur Strommen, loving husband, and father of three children, passed away at the age of 46, surrounded by his family. Dale was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 18, 1972, to Marilyn (Gervais) and Ed Strommen. The family relocated to Anaconda, Montana by the time Dale was two, and Dale graduated from Anaconda High School in 1991.

Dale met his wife Amy Annamary Madsen, of Stevensville, Montana, while he was attending college at the University of Montana. Their lives took separate paths for a while until they both ended up going back to school again, and ran into each other in the hall, this time at Montana State University in Bozeman, in 2002, and they were together ever since. Together they raised a family of three daughters, Natasha, Gabrielle, and Savannah.

Dale and Amy moved with the girls to Arizona for a short time, where he started a career working for the State, but before they knew it Montana called them back home and they landed in Bozeman, where Dale continued working for the State, as a bridge inspector. From there Dale and Amy decided to move the family to Anaconda to help his mom, Marilyn Strommen, with the family business, at Donivan's.

As a high schooler Dale loved sports and had many friends. He always rooted for the underdog and because of his selfless nature made many friends for life. He would leave to go hunting straight from football practice, still wearing his jersey and gear. He loved spending time with his grandpa Strommen and was very close to and had many great adventures with his brother Eddie. Dale gave everything he did 100% effort and with enthusiasm, including snowmobiling, bowling, skiing, and golf, to feaux painting, cement work (including trying to build his own swimming pool!), playing with and coaching all three of his daughters in sports (only missing one game of Natasha's ever), riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his brother and friends, and finally, becoming an owner of and rebuilding Donivan's into an amazing tribute that captures the vintage industrial spirit of the community of Anaconda. Dale's sense of humor and fun-loving nature secured his place in the hearts of those who knew him and spent time with him, none more so than his girls, and devoted wife, Amy. His affection for his youngest daughter Savannah was evident in the special bond they shared, exhibited through their favorite songs they would sing on trips in the car together, like "Home," by Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros. His support for Gabrielle's love of music and her amazing singing voice was clear in the way he cheered her on and bragged about her when she sang the National Anthem at local sporting events. Dale was known for his light-heartedness and his ability to connect with people, making friends everywhere he went.

Dale is survived by his wife Amy, his three daughters Natasha and fiancé Dalton Given, Gabrielle and fiancé Dakota Milligan, and Savannah, his mother Marilyn (Joe Fortune), his father Ed, sister Georgia and husband Steve, brothers Andy and wife Cindy, Eddie and fiancé Toni Peterson, and several cousins, nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts.

A wake for Dale will be held Friday evening the 25th from 5-7:30 pm at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow on Saturday January 26th at 1pm, at Hope Lutheran Church. A celebration of Dale's life will be held at Donivan's at 211 E Park Ave immediately after the service.
