Brian Eder Obituary

Brian Charles Eder, a former owner and publisher of the Philipsburg Mail, died Monday, October 13th at the hospital in Philipsburg, MT.

He is survived by his parents Joseph Charles Eder and Barbara Seastrand Eder of Philipsburg, MT, sisters Beth Ford Ploszay and husband Brian of St. Paul, MN, and Lisa Eder Mattson and husband Rick of Stacy, MN, nieces Katie Jo Ford and Jacquie Lane Ford and nephew Jack Joseph Mattson and niece Jessie Rocklyn Mattson, Brian's aunt Mary Seastrand Lyso and husband Harlan of WA, uncle R. Bruce Seastrand and wife Barbara of St. Peter, MN, aunt Azalea Eder Wright and husband Dean of Forest Lake, MN, aunt Joan Eder Manke and husband Chris of Balsam Lake, WI, and 15 cousins, one of whom, Edward Manke, preceded Brian in death.

Brian was born 50 years ago in Minneapolis, MN at the Swedish Hospital. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Bemidji, and from there he was on his way to realizing his longtime dream of owning and running a newspaper. In White Bear lake, MN, Brian was a program director for a TV station. Then the mountains of Colorado beckoned and Brian became a member of the Ski Patrol at Winter Park and worked as a salesman for a printing company. In his mid-thirties, Brian bought the Philipsburg Mail and became an active member of this community. He started his own newspaper ‘The Clark Fork Journal' in the Bitterroot Valley for a time. He then worked for the Sidney Herald until he was diagnosed with a brain disease. He came back to Philipsburg where he lived until his death. In his final year of life he again became a member of this community...for a time.
