Anne Bowman Obituary

Anne R. Bowman, age 91, died quietly at Heritage Place Assisted Living Center in Bountiful, Utah on April 30th of natural causes. Anne was born on January 8, 1925 in Butte to Michael and Mary (Kocjan) Auman. She graduated from Butte High School in 1942, attended Butte Business College and became a medical stenographer for the Murray Clinic. In 1949 she married Morris (Red) W. Bowman. Anne always wanted a big family and they were blessed with seven beautiful, healthy children. As a child, she took piano lessons and developed a wonderful rhythm to her playing. Later, when the family moved, the piano could not. Red bought her an organ which she played equally well. In 1969, Red was transferred to Anaconda. The couple enjoyed singing and were original members of the Butte St. Ann's Adult choir from 1966 to 1992. After moving, they commuted for many years to Butte to continue singing.

She worked in the Business Office of the Anaconda Community Hospital. Later she volunteered to work as the hospital's gift shop manager and buyer for 25 years under the Hospital Auxiliary. She became active in Hospice, working first in the Thrift Store and later in the Anaconda Pintler Hospice office.

Anne was in charge of and worked in many fundraisers---Hospice, Anaconda Hospital Auxiliary, and the Society for the Blind. She was a voracious reader and sports fan, especially fond of tennis and golf. Before her macular degeneration she was a longtime bridge player and enjoyed Scrabble for many years with Red. She was also a crossword puzzle aficionado.

Years ago she started a project of updating and renovating her home, which she continued until she recently moved.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Morris in 1983, her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Auman and Rose (Bill) Gurtisen and her nephew Robert Gurtisen.

She is survived by her children Mike (Cindy) Bowman, Metairie, LA and their children Katy Jambon (Corey) and Matthew Bowman, Kathy Bowman (Lloyd Bermingham), Belgrade, MT and her son Kevan (Mary Anne) Skinner, Terry Bowman, Benton City, WA and his son Alex Bowman and step-son Andy Carpenter, Merrianne (Wade) McDonald, Carmichael, CA and their children Cory and Patrick, Jill (Rick Clark) Bowman, West Bountiful, UT and their children Woody (Jess) and Beryl Clark, Gail (Dick) Nova, Seattle, WA and their children Adrienne and Ian, Kris Bowman, Bountiful, UT, and great-grandchildren Madeline Skinner and William Jambon. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Connie Kleghorn, Julie Parson, Jim, John, and Mark Gurtisen and special friends Sue & Ed Cahill, JoEllen Biggers, Tonya Mavrinac & family, and several cousins including JoAnn Garrells.

Memorials may be made to the Anaconda Community Hospital Auxiliary or Anaconda Hospice, at 401 Pennsylvania St., Anaconda, MT 59711.

As per her instructions, cremation has taken place and there will be no wake or visitation. A memorial service will be held on a date yet to be determined.
