Anna Torney Obituary
Anna Pia (Orrino) Torney was born to Alfred and Emma (Martelli) Orrino on June 21, 1938 in Cantalupo Nel Sannio, Compobasso Molise province, Italy. She passed away peacefully at her home on December 7, 2018.
On November 22, 1947, at the age of nine, Anna and her mother boarded the vessel Laturnia bound for Ellis Island, New York to join her father Alfred who was an American citizen.
Anna graduated from Anaconda High School in 1956. Following graduation, she was employed for fifteen years with the Anaconda Copper Company in the payroll office. She then worked at Buttrey's bakery for about ten years before working as the Assistant Manager at Hearthstone Inc. from 1982 until her retirement in 2003.
Anna's passions were cooking, visiting with people, and most of all, caring for her granddaughter Bianca. She was a member of the Anaconda Catholic Community, and a fixture at the Anaconda Country Club for years. She loved her time spent there helping out wherever and whenever she could. She mostly loved telling stories and visiting with the customers.
Anna married Jack Torney on June 25, 1960 and one son Mark was born from this union.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband Jack (2005), daughter Lori Ann (1977) and brother-in-law Gary Sagen (2009).
Anna is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Mark and Betty Torney, and granddaughter Bianca of Anaconda. Sister Mary Gay of Portland, Oregon. Nephew Eddie Gay of Tucson, Arizona. Niece Emily Jensen, husband Jeff and their children Emma and Jeffrey of Pleasant Hill, California. Sister Cathy Orrino-Sagen of Anaconda. Special cousins Louis and Mary Orrino of Anaconda, and many cousins in the New York state area.
The Torney family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Anaconda Junior Golf Fund c/o Anaconda Country Club, 1521 Country Club Rd. Anaconda, MT 59711, Anaconda Pintler Hospice, 118 East Seventh St., Ste. 1A, Anaconda, MT 59711, or donor's choice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
