Official Obituary of
Ann Albright Hawkins
April 6, 1927 ~ September 20, 2014 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Born in 1927, Ann Albright Hawkins spent her school-age years in Butte, raised by her parents: mother, Millie, and stepfather, J. B. Albright.
Ann attended the University of Montana and upon graduation was married to Paul A. Hawkins of Wallace, Idaho, also a graduate. He had attended school on the G.I. Bill after service in the Navy.
Her husband's degree in Journalism led to employment with United Press International in its offices in San Francisco, Helena, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. Then came a change to public relations work and a settling down.
Children, Paul Byron and Janet Lynn, were born in Los Angeles. Wanting for them a more rural, outdoor environment, the couple decided to move back to Montana.
Largely their design, the Vagabond Lodge Motel was built in Anaconda for the family, including Millie Albright, and remained their home and business for many years.
Ann's happy memories of attending Camp Fire Girls camp at Georgetown Lake led to also building a cabin at the lake for the family.
Son, Christopher Allen, was born in Anaconda, the first true Montanan in the family.
Grandson, Henry Allen (mother, Marie) helped out at the motel, and for many years after looked out for his Gram.
Important to Ann were her Canadian cousins who visited both in Butte and Anaconda: Clare and wife Marlene Stinson, Shirley and Chuck Letoria, and those who came to help at the motel or cabin or just visit in their teenage years: Michael, Donald (deceased), Christopher, Teresa, and Roberta Delich.
Son Paul Hawkins and wife, Marilyn Bennett, live in Billings. Daughter Janet Hawkins and husband, Chris Ginter, live in Croton, NY. Son, Christopher Hawkins and partner, Amanda Latimore, live in Kingston, NY. For all, a destination point to visit is the cabin at Georgetown Lake.
Ann appreciated her many blessings: family, friends and church. As a teenager, she was active in the Butte First Presbyterian Church and later was married there. Away from Butte through college and thereafter a Presbyterian church was always close, teaching joy and providing continuity.
She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Anaconda on Monday, October 20th, at 10:00 o'clock a.m.
Worthy of support is the Shriners Hospital for Children, 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204.
