Virginia (Monaco) Blaskovich
A faithful servant of God fully devoted to family, an extraordinary woman Virginia (Monaco) Blaskovich passed away on April 8, 2017, having lived all her 93 years in Anaconda.
Virginia (Gin) was born into a loving Italian family on October 21, 1923, to Joseph A. and Maria Assunta (Scibona) Monaco. Gin attended Anaconda schools and graduated in 1941.
Gin was a devout Catholic. She was an active member and held offices both locally and state wide in Junior Women, Daughters of Isabella, and the Diocesan Council of the Catholics Women's Deanery. She was also Nest Manager for 25 years of the Croatian Fraternal Union earning convention and vacation trips through enrolling new members, then keeping active on the local board for many years after. With her youngest child starting school, she began years of volunteering in various aspects for Dwyer School. Gin enjoyed working as an election judge getting to see the many people of Anaconda.
She loved to dance, so with Carl her husband of 62 years, they graced many dance floors. Gin was a strong role model and nurtured the best in her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her parents, four brothers, infant sister and sisters-in-law. Also, special friends Helen Stupca and Amanda Dayton.
Gin is survived by her sister and life-long friend, Margaret (Margie) Frey of Laguna Niguel, CA; children, Jane of Silver Springs, MD; Carl, Jr. of Bozeman; Anette of Sacramento, CA; Mark (Jamie) of Anaconda, Lisa (Mike) Shea of Butte; and Paul (Shannon) of Shelley, ID; 13 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters-in-law Deborah Cline-Monaco of Rohnert Park, CA, and Ann (Frank) Palakovich of Anaconda; and numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and cousins.
A vigil will be held in Holy Family Church on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 5:00-8:00PM with a Rosary at 6:30PM and prayer service at 7:00PM. Celebration of life will take place with a Mass at Holy Family Church on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 10:30AM and a luncheon to be held in the Hunthausen Room in the Church following her interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
