Sandra Rubendal-Kovacich
August 7, 1955 ~ June 10, 2018 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Sandra passed away at the Deer Lodge Care and Rehabilitation Center on June 10, 2018.
She was born in Anaconda to George "Tug" Kovacich and Evelyn Brown Kovacich on August 7, 1955. She attended St. Peter's Grade School and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1973. After graduation, she went to work as a laborer on the Smelter.
Some of her favorite past times were walking, photography, music, archery, prospecting and spending time with friends, family and her pets.
Sandra graduated from Montana Tech in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Society and Technology with High Honors. Next, she earned her Degree of Bachelor of Science in Education in 1983 from Eastern Montana College. She also received her Degree of Master of Education in 1987 from Eastern Montana College. She taught school on the Norther Cheyenne Reservation near Lame Deer, MT.
Sandra married Richard Rubendal and they moved to Tucson, AZ. They divorced 11 years later. She taught school at Many Farms, AZ on the Navajo Reservation and in Tucson, at Pima Community College, she taught English, Reading, Writing, Math and Computers. Sandra tutored part-time for child actors from Old Tucson Studios. She always loved teaching and continuing her education.
Sandra returned to Anaconda in 1996. Her life drastically changed. She suffered with debilitating arthritis and mental illness for over 20 years. She had cancer for the last 3 years.
Sandra was preceded in death by all of her grandparents, her father and mother and her brother Ken.
She is survived by her brother George (Helen), her five nieces and several cousins and all of their families and her good friend Gwen.
We would like to thank the staff at Hearthstone for all of the interest and care they took of Sandra for many years
We want to thank the staff and caregivers at Deer Lodge Care and Rehab for the wonderful care given to Sandra over the last year.
