Roland "Ron" Neussendorfer passed away in his Anaconda home on June 17, 2018 with family by his side. He was 91. He is now in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Roland was born on April 12, 1927 in Egeland, North Dakota to Joseph and Josephine Neussendorfer. He attended Henderson High in Munich, North Dakota. In his early adulthood, he farmed in North Dakota and worked at Cudahy Packing Co. in Sioux City, Iowa.

In 1950, Roland entered the Army and served in Germany as a surgical technician with the 48th Armored Medical Battalion. Following his discharge from the Army in October 1952, Roland migrated to Montana and began working at the Washoe Smelter in February 1953. He was a member of the Painter's Union, serving many years as its auditor.

He married Josephine Doll in 1963. They made their home and started their family in the Anaconda house Roland had purchased a year earlier.

In 1983, three years after the smelter shut down, Roland went to work at Galen as a painter for the state of Montana. He retired in August 1993.

Roland was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus for 71 years. He was the Knight of the Year for Anaconda Council #882 in 1996. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 21 and its honor guard. A parishioner of the Anaconda Catholic Community since 1953, Roland attended Holy Family Church beginning in 1980.

Roland is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josephine, daughter Ann of Roanoke, VA, son Joe (Rebecca) of Mukilteo, WA, and his grandchildren Elizabeth, Henry, and Julia.

He also is survived by his precious sister, Rita Clancy of Valley City, ND, brother-in-law Lester Colvin of Fargo, ND, and sisters-in-law Veronica Oberst, Rose Kraft, Marian Wandler, Florence Bjorke, and brother-in-law Donald Doll.
