MaryLou Hackman Obituary

MaryLou (Tootsie) Hackman passed away peacefully in her sleep on 12/1/2016 in Philipsburg, Montana at the Granite County Health Center. Truly loving and caring with everyone, she will be so missed by her children; Brett (Kim), Philipsburg; Hardee, Missoula; Cheryl (Bryan Sedita) Polson; Charlene Hapeman-Stage, Polson and Carol (Paul O'Bagy) Stevensville. She will also be missed by grandchhildren Brandon, Bakersfield, California; Carrie (Jason Wogsland) Polson; and great-grandchildren Kohl, Kaleb, Kierra & Kyla, Polson.

MaryLou is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Mitchell, St. Ignatius and Delores Adams, Evaro, Montana. Her husband, Harvey, preceded her in death in 2009. Born on 10/13/33 to Alice and Harold Mitchell, she was also preceded in death by both parents, brothers Harold Jr., Wayne, Leo, Bob, Tom, infant Alvin & one young sister Shirley.

Always a hard worker, MaryLou worked as a waitress for years at both supper clubs; the Club Chateau and the Frontier Lounge in Missoula where she made and treasured many close friendships throughout her life. After relocating to Polson in 1980, she continued to work at various supper clubs in the Polson area until her retirement.

Both she and her husband loved the location of their place west of Polson and their view of Flathead Lake & worked together on their manicured ‘golf-course' yard, vegetable garden as well as many flower beds and created landscapes interspersed throughout their yard. Never to be idle, MaryLou was known for her immaculate house, the ceramic yard art she made and her crocheted afghans. However, what she did best was making friends; she never met a person she didn't like and certainly never met a baby she didn't love. She truly was a special person who enriched the lives of everyone she knew.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank neighbors, Dave and Bea Cottington for the understanding and help extended to MaryLou and support given to the family in dealing with her dementia. The family also wants to extend sincere thanks to everyone at the Granite County Health Center for their loving care given to MaryLou & the support provided to all of us. The family is particularly grateful to brother Brett for his close contact with Mom & specifically for all the love and care his wife Kim gave her. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled next summer.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
