Joseph F. Micheletti, life-long Anaconda resident, peacefully passed away on January 20, 2017. Joe was born in Anaconda, Montana on September 10, 1940 to Joseph and Ella (Pirotta) Micheletti.
Joe graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1958 and from MSU in 1962 with a Civil Engineering degree. Joe married Marilyn Eccleston, his high school sweetheart and St. Peter's Grade School classmate, on April 15, 1961. They were blessed with five children-the 5 J's: Janine, Jody, Joe, John, and Julie. For 29 years he worked for the Montana Department of Transportation as a Right-of-Way Division Supervisor in Butte and Helena. He was instrumental in acquiring lands for our Interstate Highways, with I-15 and I-90 intersecting near Butte; however, he preferred traveling Montana's back roads and state highways that he knew meticulously and could recite the location of each mile marker.
His labor of love was family and felt his greatest accomplishment was his children. Joe worked tirelessly in supporting his family and emphasized the importance of higher education, a strong work ethic, and always lending a helping hand to others. "Nonno" absolutely adored his 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild; making sure they never left his sight without squeezing their cheeks and giving them a whisker rub. He was exceptionally innovative and blessed with many talents. His carpentry skills neared perfection, designing and installing numerous kitchens, remodeling the family home, and constructing his master piece - the family cabin at Georgetown Lake. When not pounding nails, Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and dancing with Marilyn.
He was a life time member of the Anaconda Catholic Community and served as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. He was proud of his Italian heritage and loved to host and entertain, especially at large family gatherings - "mangia, mangia, mangia!" One of his most cherished vacations was traveling to the old country, Lucca, Italy, visiting his ancestral home.
Joe was proceeded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry; sister, Adele; infant brother, Michael, his mother and father-in law, Earl and Kay (Tracy) Eccleston; and his brother-in-law's, Bud Turner and Jim Meister; nephew, Tom Turner; and his Zia, Dina Sanders.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; his children Janine (Bruce) Sager; Jody (Henry) Murach; Joe (Jenni) Micheletti, John, and Julie (Ryan) Murgel; his grandchildren Kaylee (Tyler), Keith (Allana), Krista, Henry, Gabriella, Joey, Alyssa, Nico, Emily and Jordan; one great grandson, Malachi; sisters, Dina Turner and Mary Kay (Rich) Senden; brother-in-law's, Bob (Cathy) Eccleston and Dale Eccleston; sister-in-law's, Lanor (Jim) Kaney and Sue (Tim) O'Dea, close and dear cousin, Mickey Sanders, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
